Programme notes:

The concept of The Crow atop the Temple came about from a photograph I saw on display at the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Singapore: Sounds of the Temple, photographed by Oei Geok Baw. In the image, a lone crow is perched on top of the aforementioned temple, highlighting the sheer scale of the building. I found it to be analogous to my own experiences when first exploring this place of worship. The towering statues, the aromas of incense, the chanting of sutras - it was a sensory overload in the best possible way. I wanted to capture the scope of such an experience through music, so it's filled to the brim with whirring, colourful harmonies, shifting timbres, instrumental "echoes", and more.
